It has been a while

I can't believe how fast this year has gone and i do appologise for not blogging! After my last post i had to pack my house up as i was moving and i've only just got my new house straight in time for Christmas.

So, next week i can get back into my baking and i should have some pictures up of that too.

My first order!

Yesterday was the day where i showed off my baking talent for the first time...EVER! and with great reviews too. The occasion was a 40th birthday, so i wanted to make a cake extra special.
I decided on making a giant cupcake with lots of smaller ones around it.

For the giant cupcake mixture, i used  normal vanilla sponge with pink buttercream icing in the middle and on top. For the decoration i indivdually cut each marsmellow and dipped the middle in pink sugar sparkles to give it that extra wow factor. And this is what it came out as

For the regular cupcakes i used the same vanilla sponge mix for 24 cakes and the next 24 cupcakes i made a mandarin sponge mix and used the left over juice from the tin in the icing. toped with chocolate shards Mmmmm. Everyone loved the cakes, especially the mandarin ones. So watch this space..

Baking Haul

Last night i decided to nip off to centre: MK (Milton Keynes) to grab a present for a birthday on Sunday While i was there i had to have a look inTK Maxx as they are top notch on big brands, small prices. I ust wanted to see if there was any bargains. And to my suprise there was.

I nabbed these two muffin trays for £5.99 each! One was a 12 cup by Viners (very good make) it would have cost me £21.00 and the other muffin tray is also a 12 cup by Optium and should have been £15.99.

Next i got some Wilton 12 disposable icing bags £3.99 when i could have brought them for £5.99.

Ikeia isn't too far from the shopping centre and i needed to pick a mixing bowl up. I got this rather large bowl for £9.19!

I also picked up a pipng bag with 6 nozzles with a couple of other bits for £10.
So, it was a good shopping trip with lots of bargains. : D

Spring has arrived

Yesterday was the first day of Spring and what a lovely, warmish day it was. So, to celebrate the first day of spring i decided i wanted to bake somekind of loaf involving Strawberrys and Bananas. I came acros this deliscous recipe from The Goddess's Kitchen (click the link to get the recipe). It consisted of Strawberrys, Bananas and white chocolate. It was so yummy i kindly shared it with my boyfriend for a Sunday pudding. Here are my pictures of the loaf -

Red Nose Day

Today is Red nose day and there are hundred of events raising money for charity across the country. It's a shame i didn't think of baking cakes to help raise (no pun intended).

I've just been so busy and it doesn't help i work 1 - 10pm on Fridays boo ( though i'll still help my work to raise money). However, there is still time to raise today and that is - #twebrelief  which  is the non-celeb version of twitrelief. People are auctioning their skills, products, anything else they can think of, to raise money for Comic Relief.
The auction ends today, so have a look here, where you can find a full list of the items up for auction.

Please help raise lots of money for Comic Relief.
